The West Coast of New Zealand is a magical place. It is remote, tucked away between the Southern Alps and the sea; it is wild, with its dramatic landscapes and unique weather patterns; and it is incredibly beautiful.
Here in South Westland, the Franz Josef Glacier once extended all the way to the sea and, upon its retreat, carved the valley we call home, framed by towering mountains, dotted by mirror lakes, and immersed in lush rainforest.
Our Cosy Cabin in the Paddocks sits in a quiet rural setting, with lovely mountain views. Only a 7-minute drive from the township of Franz Josef, it is secluded enough to make you feel far away from everything, yet close enough to all the amenities and attractions the region has to offer: glacier hikes and flights, kayaking, quad-biking, horse trekking, skydiving and, of course, free walks for all ages and abilities.
After an energizing hike or a busy day of sightseeing, delight your senses with a breath-taking West Coast sunset, the song of native birds, the sparkling night sky or the soothing sound of rain on the rooftop.
